Are you planning a trip to Livorno and wondering where to eat in Livorno like a local? As a Tuscan tour guide who loves good food, I’ve explored the city’s best spots and I’m excited to share my top three places to eat.
Osteria della Venezia – A Taste of Tradition in the Venice District
Nestled in the charming Venice district of Livorno, Osteria della Venezia is my go-to place when I crave something truly traditional. The must-try dish here is cacciucco, a rich seafood stew made with a mix of fish, mollusks, and crustaceans, all simmered in a tomato-based sauce. It’s served over toasted bread rubbed with garlic, a bold, flavorful dish that tells the story of Livorno’s seafaring history.

Cacciucco.
If you’re in the area for a walking tour or stopping before heading to Pisa or Florence, this is a wonderful place to enjoy authentic local cuisine. It’s also a favorite stop for guests on my private tours in Florence and Pisa when we venture toward the coast.
Il Sestante – Fresh Seafood Near Terrazza Mascagni
If you’re looking for a delicious meal near Livorno’s scenic Terrazza Mascagni, head to Il Sestante in the San Jacopo neighborhood. This restaurant offers excellent seafood, and my absolute favorite dish here is the mixed fried seafood — light, crispy, and bursting with the flavors of the Mediterranean.
Dining here combines the pleasure of good food with the beauty of Livorno’s coastline. It’s the perfect stop after a day spent in town.
Chez Ugo – Pizza with a View in the Venice Quarter
For a more casual but equally satisfying meal, I recommend Chez Ugo, a pizzeria located right along the canals of the Venice district. This spot offers an extensive selection of pizzas, including gluten-free options, all served with a spectacular view of the water.
Whether you’re in the mood for a classic Margherita or something more adventurous, the relaxed setting and high-quality ingredients make Chez Ugo a great place to recharge.
